This is a classic setup shot. The objective is to pocket six balls in six pockets with one stroke of the cue. Hit 'em and watch the butterfly spread its wings and fly!

I place the cue ball on the 3rd diamond line in the center of the table. I align the two center balls toward the side pockets. Their back edges are about even with the 3rd diamond line as you can see in the picture. (Figure 1)
I place the balls that go "backward" in line with the short rail point of their corner pockets. Depending on the throw, you may have to move this even farther up the short rail. (Figure 2)
I place the other balls so they align with the short rail point of their corner pockets. Similarly, depending on the throw, you may have to move this even farther up the short rail. (Figure 3)
Place the cue ball in the center of the table and split them down the middle. To dress it up, shoot it while looking away. Just pay attention to what you miss to make adjustments necessary for your playing conditions.
