Here's another shot using the ball tray as an extra rail. I send the cue ball around 3 rails, off the tray, and then over to make the hanging ball in the side pocket.
Discipline: Bank & Kick
Difficulty: Beginner
For the tray, I place the leading edge in line with the second diamond, and freeze the rest of it to the long rail (Figure 1). Keeping the balls in the tray gives it weight so the cue ball doesn't move it. When I hang the object ball, I place it closer to the tray, rather than in the middle of the pocket.
I place the cue ball at the 1 x 1 diamond intersection opposite of the tray. I aim for the first diamond down at the other end of the table with high left english, about 10:30. No need to hit this too hard either, just enough to get it off the tray and across the table.
I just came up with this shot when I was packing up at the end of a session and thought I'd try it to see if it worked. Lo and behold, it does!
